Biker Binge – Part 1: The Movies
Filed Under (General) by Jamie Alexander on 02-03-2010
For the past few weeks I’ve been on a biker binge watching tons of classic biker films.
Some good some bad and some really bad.
First up, The Wild One with Marlon Brando
I figure this was ground breaking in its day, seems like everyone loved it, what was cool is how Sonny Barger liked Chino the bad guy better. I saw a fag picture of Marlon Brando on the net once, so I find it hard seeing him as this hard ass. Definitely worth a watch its like grade 1the foundation on which everything else is built on for biker flicks.

Then there is, Born losers(I dunno if this list is gonna be chronological), this was total crap somehow it reminded me of Scooby doo.

Then is Easy rider, which i used to really dig, but reading Sonny’s book where he calls him a prissy boy has kinda ruined it. I’m trying to look past that though, the bike he rides is like super awesome and old Peter Fonda is a cool cat and Jack Nicholson makes any movie good. This movie is also like a must see for any bike lover

Electra glide in Blue was sold as easy rider for cops, I tried to watch this but these guys look seriously gay in their cop leathers and all clean cut, it was ok nothing to write home about though.

Wild angels I couldn’t do, watching Peter Fonda be cool in easy rider was great but you can only do it once, he looks almost the same in this, and knowing they also ripped off the Hells angels with “wild angels”.

Hells angels on wheels was cool because it had some real hells angels in it plus was ok’d by them and like i mentioned earlier anything with Jack Nicholson in is great.

Hells Angels forever is a documentary which gives you a glimpse into the hells angels, it seems to mainly focus on the new York chapter, it would have been nice to see some of the Oakland guys, you do see Sonny though on TV footage, There is one big ass hairy dude who is super cool, nice bikes some good music and just plain old bike riding which is what its all about.

Roadside prophet – I couldn’t watch this it was so badly acted I couldn’t handle it.
Beyond The Law – Also was rejected, who can take Charlie Sheen seriously
Hell Ride was super rad, all the guys are bad ass, its sponsored by Quentin Tarantino its got Dennis hopper in plus a few other of the usual bad asses in, The main guy Larry Bishop over does his character but it actually works, well at least for me.
And finally my ultimate movie Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man
This has got to be one of the best movies ever, Mickey Rourke(who i think regretted this movie) is legendary, his line “its better to be dead and cool than alive and uncool” is one of the best lines. And they kill a jap bike which works for me.
